CIVICA the European Univesity of Social Sciences
The presence of SGH in the CIVICA European University Alliance is a new dimension of international academic cooperation, opening up innovative opportunities for SGH students and doctoral students in the field of education and civic awareness building.
Our students and doctoral students can take advantage of additional international mobility opportunities and participate in classes and special teaching projects conducted jointly with universities belonging to the alliance.
How it began?
Since its creation in 2019 by leading European social science universities, CIVICA has been working to create a truly European inter-university campus. CIVICA piloted the EU's European Universities Initiative, which aims to strengthen strategic partnerships in European higher education and research. CIVICA members have leveraged their collective expertise and shared European values to offer students, doctoral candidates and staff innovative, transnational opportunities in education, research and civic engagement, with a particular focus on digital innovation and the overarching mission of serving European societies
CIVICA's vision
CIVICA's vision for 2030 is to deepen and broaden its activities in key areas such as education, research, community engagement, innovation and lifelong learning; developing a diverse and inclusive CIVICA community, further global outreach, establishing CIVICA's leadership in the social sciences, and creating a framework for sustainable institutional collaboration.
CIVICA's mission
In line with its mission, CIVICA will continue to serve local and global communities, defend fundamental European values, promote environmental sustainability and conduct research in areas relevant to social science policy. However, CIVICA will also continue to focus on the internal communities of the alliance. From autumn 2022 to autumn 2026, thousands of students and young researchers are expected to gain new opportunities for international mobility, benefit from new educational offerings and pan-European opportunities for civic engagement.
